Ceramics designer, Andrew Dowden, will be showing new work at the Quarr Abbey exhibition space, based on the theme 'Dots, Dashes, Buildings and Boats'.

Andrew's distinctive and unique work is all handmade, hand-built and hand-carved. Each piece is individually designed with form and surface texture being more important than function. A limited palette of glazes and slips are used, with the clay body being an integral part of the surface design.

Ideas are derived from many sources including: tracks left on the land by man, machine and nature; archaeology, engineering and architecture.

In addition to his new work, Wheel forms, Tumbling Squares, decorative ceramic tiles with Island themes, hand-built Standing Stones, and ceramic wall panels will be among the many items to be exhibited.
