On Saturday August 15th a local group of amateur singers and performers in the West Wight will stage a concert to commemorate the musical talent of a dear friend who passed away in November last year.

Entitled, ‘Musical Memories of Barry Brooke’ the concert will consist of sets of songs from ‘The Totland Old Tymers’, Bob Everson and ‘The Elderberries’, Bertie Everson and Choir friends. It promises to be a varied programme with the wit of Tony Cobbett, as Master of Ceremonies, to link all the acts together.

Many of the songs were Barry’s favourites, which he often performed, and there will be a chance for the audience to join in some of them at the end of the show.

It is planned to use the proceeds to sponsor a Music Scholarship. Tickets are £6 each, available from 'The Cabin' Freshwater and 'Everson's' Totland. (Tel. 755733)
