Freshwater Film Club present TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (1962) (129 mins - b/w) Dir: Robert Mulligan Cast: Gregory Peck, John Megna, Mary Badham, Philip Alford & Brock Peters
Atticus Finch (Peck), a lawyer in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama, has a strong belief that all people should be treated fairly and that one should stand by your beliefs. This ethos not applies to his two small children (Badham & Alford) but more importantly to Tom Robinson (Peters) a black man charged with a teenaged white girl, whom Atticus is appointed to defend.
Thanks to Peck’s perfect performance and Mulligan’s beautifully controlled direction, To Kill a Mockingbird has become a screen classic and widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.
