Ventnor Film Society presents Lunchbox

This charming romantic comedy revolves around a mistaken delivery by the famously reliable Mumbai tiffin box lunch delivery service, which brings together Saajan, a lonely widower nearing retirement, and Ila, an unhappy housewife trying to win back her neglectful husband with her delicious food. As they exchange notes via the daily lunchbox, sharing comments on the food with their more private thoughts, worries and hopes, a relationship develops that will change them both.

The Lunchbox is far removed from classic Bollywood movies with their flamboyant song and dance numbers, melodramas and star-crossed lovers. Gentle but never sentimental, this is a story about love and friendship but also a fascinating excursion into the the bustling city of Mumbai, where two people find themselves alone among its overcrowded streets and trains.

Screenings take place on alternate Tuesdays at 7.30pm and latecomers are not admitted.

Entrance is £5 payable at the door and is not necessary to be a member of the Arts Club to attend.
