La boheme

If you couldn't make it to Glyndebourne this year, we're creating a little of its atmosphere here on the Isle of Wight. That's right, Bembourne! We're screening the fabulous 2008 film of Giacomo Puccini's immortal opera La Bohème. But with a difference.

We're having a long interval and turning the interior of the hall into a virtual country park so that you can picnic at tables during the 90 minute long interval or enjoy a specially created menu at Bembridge restaurants Fox's or Shed, each just one minute away.

Please feel free to bring champagne, wine (and glasses) with or without your picnic to the Village Hall! We'll be round the village with a ten minute bell before the long interval finishes...

Bookings are essential and you can make do this please by emailing [email protected] or calling James Vaux on 07710 739936. Tickets (excluding food) are £7 and this includes music from a classical pianist in the long interval. Doors will open at 4pm and the film will start at 5pm. The long interval begins 6pm, with the film resuming at 7.30pm and ending at 8.30pm. We're getting dressed up but you don't have to! Please note that for a change the screening is on a SATURDAY.

La Boheme is brought to life in a new, specially filmed, big budget feature-film version directed by Academy Award nominee Robert Dornhelm (The Children of Theatre Street), produced by Jan Mojto's Unitel, one of the largest producers of audiovisual classical music films in the world, and starring the opera world's ''dream team'', soprano Anna Netrebko and tenor Rolando Villazon. It features two of opera's biggest superstars, Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón, in the roles they have performed to live audiences all over the world.

Ramshackle Pop-Up Cinema is Bembridge's not-for profit community cinema, showing hi resolution widescreen films in the village hall monthly. It's also available for hire for private events.
