Cate Blanchett rightly won this year's best actress Oscar for her incredible performance in Woody Allen's late career masterpiece, "Blue Jasmine'.
After everything in her life falls to pieces, including her marriage to wealthy businessman Hal, elegant New York socialite Jasmine moves into her sister Ginger’s modest apartment in San Francisco to try to pull herself back together again. It's a cautionary tale of hubris with typical Woody Allen humour and a cast at the top of their game.
'After all those false dawns, non-comebacks and semi-successful Euro jeux d'esprit, Allen has produced an outstanding movie, immensely satisfying and absorbing' THE GUARDIAN ***** 'Cate Blanchett tops anything she's done in the past' WALL STREET JOURNAL
Tickets are £4 on the door, and there are plenty of refreshments available including popcorn, chocolate buttons, smarties and Capri-Sun drinks, so your inner child can feast as you are captured by the cattiness of cantankerous Cate in character. Doors open 3pm and the film starts at 3.15pm.
Ramshackle Pop-Up Cinema is Bembridge's not-for-profit community cinema with hi-definition widescreen films in the Village Hall monthly.
