ARCHIVE: This event has now finished Entertaining Bembridge
11 May - 12 May FREE
This Bembridge Heritage Society exhibition will show how Bembridge people celebrated and enjoyed themselves over the decades. It covers activities from carnivals, celebrations and pantomimes to sport, regattas and fun on the beach. It will remember the on-stage activities in the Church Room (now known as the Village Hall) as well as the way Bembridge entertained visitors in the holiday camps and hotels.
The enjoyment of going to the pub and eating out is shown as an important part in village life then and now. The village’s wide range of clubs, societies and music groups started so many years ago are still flourishing.
The village’s evident community spirit in the past is what makes it such a vibrant and caring place to live today.
