Time: 10:00am to 4:00pm
Price: 125.00 - 130.00
After preparing your own stencils using torn and cut paper, you will begin by printing simple designs, to explore the effects which can be achieved by overprinting different colours of the water-based inks. Building on your experience, you will develop more complex images and learn how to print an edition of your own unique design.
The workshop will provide an ideal introduction to screen-printing and is suitable for people with no experience of the medium. It also offers an opportunity for people with some experience, who wish to further develop their skills.
Melanie Swan’s background was initially as a painter in egg tempera. She has a broad creative practice which includes painting and print-making and other mediums. She works with both textile and paper-based screen-printing using water-based dyes and inks.
Melanie has regularly attended courses at West Dean College, amongst others, over many years. Most recently she studied for the West Dean Foundation Diploma to refresh her practice and explore new directions in her work. She has a particular interest in a contemporary exploration of traditional mediums. www.melanieswan.moonfruit.com
