For those of you who missed Victoria & Abdul or would like to see it again, we’ll be screening it on Sunday 18th March at 3.00pm in high definition with Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

Victoria & Abdul, which attracted two Oscar nominations, stars Judi Dench, Ali Fazal and Eddie Izzard. It follows Queen Victoria’s late-life relationship with a young Indian who joins her household staff and becomes her trusted confidante, causing shock and consternation amongst her family and advisers. Stephen Frears directs, in a sequel to his film 'Mrs Brown’ 20 years ago. It is shot extensively at Osborne House...with many Island extras whom you may recognise.

As a tie-in to the film, we are honoured that the author of the book on which it is based, Shrabani Basu, has kindly agreed to visit us from London. The talk will be at 3.00pm on Sunday 8th April, followed by a book signing.

As ever, there will be a magnificent full afternoon tea after both events, provided by the Ryde Lions in aid of their local charities.

Tickets are going like hot cakes and we have already taken many bookings for each event so please reserve your seats quickly. Tickets are £10 each including afternoon tea.

For bookings please email Judith at or call 875738.
