The Ventnor & District Local History Society talk for November.

An introduction to the size of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines during the Great War, the various roles at sea and on land, examples of the various records of officers and ratings and how to interpret them. An explanation of the numbering systems and how to find your subject amongst the vast array of available records which have survived in their entirety.

The Guest Speaker is: Jonathan Collins – ARRC, BSc(Hons), MA (Ed) Naval and Military Historian Free to Members. Guests welcome at £2.
