The first concert of West Wight Arts Association’s exciting new season will be given on Saturday September 16th by the brilliant young Trio Ducasse in the Memorial Hall, Freshwater, starting at 19.00.
The Trio, which consists of Charlotte Maclet, violin, Fiachra Garvey piano and William Duncombe, clarinet, was formed in 2010 when they met as students at the Paris Conservatoire. Since then they have gone on to undertake residencies at various academies and this year attended IMS Prussia Cove working with Thomas Adès. They have won several awards, made their debut at Wigmore Hall, toured Ireland and made their first CD.
They will play works by the Russian composers Arutiunian, Shostakovich and Khachaturian, Romanian Folk Dances and Contrasts by Bartok, L’Histoire du Soldat by Stravinsky and Three Preludes by Gershwin. The concert promises to be sparky and entertaining.
Tickets at £14.00 (£2.00 students and children) are available from West Wight Arts Association’s website www.westwightarts.co.uk or Totland Parish Office tel 756028.
