Armed Forces Flag Raising Ceremony Free

There will be an Armed Forces Flag Raising Ceremony at the War Memorial and Holy Trinity Church, Bembridge at 1400hrs on Tuesday 20th June 2017.

It is requested that Standard Bearers and Veterans etc, attend at 1300hrs in readiness for the pupils of Bembridge C. of E. Primary School and attendance of the Lord Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Major General. Martin White CB CBE JP., at 1355hrs.

Guests will be welcomed by Seaview and Nettlestone RBL Branch Chairman, Keith Bradford, followed by the raising of the Armed Forces Flag by two pupils assisted by the Chairman of Bembridge Parish Council. This will be followed by the Exhortation, Last Post, Silence, Reveille, Kohima and the Lament played on the bagpipes by Dr Kieron.

The Lord Lieutenant, dignitaries, pupils, teachers and others attending will enter the church where there will be a short service, poetry reading and songs sung by the schoolchildren

After the celebration, everyone is invited to partake of refreshments at the Village Hall being arranged by Bembridge Parish Council and Women’s Institute.
