Zen Meditation and Mindfulness for Insight

Once you have developed a regular daily meditation practice you can start to deepen your experience and start to look at your inner nature, your true self, the part of you that is not your thoughts or feelings, but a deeper more spiritual self.

By sitting in meditation, we get past the logical mind to a quieter space, a deeper more inner us and by doing this, by opening up to experiencing a different part of ourselves we may discover something more, we may find our true selves. The meditation techniques we practice build a flow of energy, strengthening the Hara (energy at the belly) and energetically clearing the body and mind.

To connect with this energy you just need to focus the mind and let go, letting everything flow just as it is. Surrendering to the flow can bring clarity, physical strength, calmness, reduced stress levels, a sense of connectedness as well as ease conditions such as insomnia, depression and addiction. It can also boost the immune system allowing the body to fight off illness.

When you practice meditations to develop the Hara, you may feel different sensations, gaining physical responses, feeling energy move or emotions rising. These sensations are just the side effects of the meditation practice, if you continue on past these sensations you may gain a deeper understanding of yourself and find a deep inner connection. This could take time and may only be discovered with ongoing practice.

With the 8 week course in Meditation and Mindfulness for Insight we practice mindfulness, working on energy, improving our concentration and noticing moments of bliss, tranquility and equanimity. With ongoing practice we may even discover moments of enlightenment.
