Samba is a Senegalese immigrant working in Paris as an undocumented kitchen helper to send money back home after his father's death. Fighting against deportation, Samba finds himself ordered to leave France and seeks the help of Alice, a volunteer immigration advocate who makes up for her lack of experience with a generous heart.

Alice is advised to keep her distance but finds herself drawn to the resilient young immigrant reduced to a demeaning cash-in-hand existence and they form an unexpected bond in this optimistic comedy drama.
