West Wight Arts Association
March 5th 2016 Viv McLean Piano
The penultimate concert of West Wight Arts Association’s 2015/6 season will be given on March 5th in Freshwater Memorial Hall by acclaimed pianist Viv McLean starting at 7.00 pm.
Viv McLean has played several times with the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra, most recently last summer when he played Rhapsody in Blue with them. He has also played for West Wight Arts Association with the Dumas Trio in 2007.
Viv will play Busoni’s arrangement of Bach’s Chorale Prelude “Nun komm der Heiden Heiland” and Beethoven’s early piano sonata Op. 14 no 1, to be followed by Chopin’s posthumous Nocturne in C sharp minor and Ballades nos 3 and 1. After the interval he will play Beethoven’s much loved Diabelli Variations.
The concert is generously sponsored by Julia and Peter Sheard in memory of their son Rupert who played many of the works Viv will play.
Viv was described by Le Monde as having "fingers of steel hidden behind muscles of velvet" and the Times said "Viv McLean never faltered, spewing molten lava."
Tickets (£12,00 adults, £2,00 students and children) are available from Totland Parish Office, 756028, from the website www.westwightarts.co.uk or at the door.
