The second concert of 2016 in the West Wight Arts Association season promises to be a real treat. Trombonist Peter Moore will be giving a recital with pianist Jonathan Ware on Saturday February 13th in the Memorial Hall, Freshwater starting at 7.00pm.

At the age of 18 he was appointed co-principal trombone of the London Symphony Orchestra and in 2015 joined the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist Scheme. Peter is a Yamaha International Artist and an Ambassador for the BBC Ten Pieces project. He was selected by the Young Classical Artists Trust in 2014.

Born in Texas, Jonathan Ware studied at the Eastman School of Music, the Juilliard School and at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ Berlin, where he now teaches. He won the Pianists’ Prize at Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation International Song and Das Lied Competitions, and in 2014 won 1st Prize in the International Hugo Wolf Competition and was selected by YCAT.

They will play Beethoven’s Horn Sonata, Op.17, Urlicht from Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn, Ewazen’s Sonata for Trombone and Piano, Lindberg Los Bandidos, Stojowski Fantasy for Trombone and Piano, an arrangement of Brahms’ Four Serious Songs and Pryor La Petite Suzanne.
