Part of Isle of Arts Festival 2015

Stanley holloway

After the sell-out success of Paul’s appearance last year at Isle of Arts, we thought it best to ask him to come down again all the way from Scotland for a repeat performance!

Actor, comedian, poet and singer Stanley Holloway (1890 – 1982) performed many monologues during his career, many of them written by Mariott Edgar. Most famous amongst these was probably the story of “Albert and the Lion”, in which young Albert Ramsbotham is eaten by a lion on a visit to the zoo.

Paul will recite several of Stanley Holloway’s most popular monologues, as well as some lesser known ones, and include some new material from actor and comedian Billy Bennett as well as a few of Gary Hogg’s “Fairly Truthful Tales”.

All delivered with passion, precision, and props, this is an enchanting hour’s entertainment reminiscent of years gone by.
