The concert to be given in the Memorial Hall Freshwater on February 7th as part of the West Wight Arts Association’s 2014-5 season, will be given by the violinist Ben Baker and pianist Petr Limonov.
They will play a programme designed for lovers of the violin piano repertoire, starting with two works for the instruments by the great violinist/composer Fritz Kreisler , Praeludium and Allegro and La Précieuse in the style of Couperin. These will be followed by Beethoven’s beautiful last Violin Sonata of 1812 in G major, Opus 96, the third Violin Sonata by Brahms, written in 1888 and Caprice in the form of a Waltz Op. 52 no 6 by Saint Saëns, arranged by Ysaÿe, a piece which will show off the virtuoso talents of both players.
If you've never been to a West Wight Arts Association concert, give it a try! We're unstuffy, warm and friendly but the quality of the concerts is tremendous. Tickets at £12.00 (students and children £2.00) are available from Totland Parish Office, 756028, [email protected], reserved via our website www.westwightarts.co.uk or bought at the door.
