This is one of our regular, and popular, walks which we complete every May and October.

Starts on Friday 24 October and ends on Sunday 26 October 2014.

The walk starts from East Cowes chain ferry. Heading clockwise, with overnight stops at Ventnor and Totland. On completion we will be celebrating with drinks at the Spyglass Inn. 73 miles will be completed over the 3 days.

The Isle of Wight Long Distance Walkers Association is a friendly, expanding group and seeks to combine longer distance walking with sightseeing and a chance to meet like-minded people. A wide variety of coastal and inland walks have now been established to attract walkers of all ages.

Distances from 10 to 73 miles are covered, and a 24-hour round-the-island walk is programmed each year for the same day (and direction) as the Round the Island Yacht Race. Most of the walks are quite casual, with lots of beaches and bars. Other walks leave less time for making sandcastles, and may incur some blisters! Most walks are circular, but some are linear. Lunch stops are usually taken at a pub or café. Social events and occasional weekends away on the mainland are also organised.

You can follow the group on Twitter @iowldwa, and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/LDWA.IOW/, however this FB page is a closed group and you must request to join. Walk reports are available on our blog https://iowldwa.wordpress.com/ and photos on our Flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/iowldwa/

It is not mandatory to be a LDWA member to join any initial walks. However, you are expected to join the LDWA if you eventually wish to become a full or associate member of the group. LDWA Membership costs about £13 a year, and not only allows you to join (and support) the Isle of Wight Group, but also opens up access to a multitude of other groups and walks around the country. Membership of the LDWA also entitles you to some amazing discounts in Blacks, Goodyears Outdoors and Isle of Wight Pearl – who all give 10% discount on all items in their stores. So this means that your annual membership can easily be reimbursed!
