Cor Meibion Dyffryn Twyi (Vale of Towy Welsh Male Choir) are travelling to the Island and are to team up with Newchurch mvc for a joint charity concert on Saturday 26th April at St Saviours church, Queens Road, Shanklin at 7.45pm.

Proceeds from the retiring collection will go toward supporting the IoW Association for Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus the charity Newchurch mvc have nominated as their charity to support for 2014.

Last year (2013) £1,300 was raised in support of Action on Hearing Loss.

The Vale of Towy choir was formed in 1975 and as its reputation has grown it has become one of the most popular choirs in Wales and has represented Wales at the prestigious Celtic Festival in Quimper Brittany on two occasions.

Worldwide tours to visit America, Canada, France, Denmark, Ireland and England have also been undertaken. They will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary next year.

Davinia Davies, has been Musical Director of Towy since 2006 having previously been deputy. Davinia graduated from University of Bangor in 2000 gaining B.A. (Hons) degree in music. One of the most popular choirs she has been associated with was "The Hywel Girls and Boys Singers Llanelli".

Maureen Chapman has been with the Choir as Accompanist since 2003. She trained at Trinity College of Music, London in piano and organ and has worked as teacher and performer in London, Oxford and East Anglia. She has also been a M.D. for many choirs and is currently the Musical Director of a male voice and mixed choir in West Wales.

Roy Bevan will be conducting Newchurch mvc with Jenny Riddell piano accompanist.
