Sat 18 Jun 10am – 4pm £40 / £35 (Friends of Quay Arts’ concession)

This season, on Sat 18 June during National Crime Writing Week, Quay Arts is offering budding writers the opportunity to work with crime writer Pauline Rowson.

Pauline’s fascination with adventure, mystery and heroes, together with her love for the sea, led her to create a new sub-genre of crime fiction – the marine mystery.

Pauline is the author of the Portsmouth-based detective series featuring DI Andy Horton. She has also written two fast-paced thrillers, one of which, In Cold Daylight, was voted by the public as one of the best top ten reads for World Book Day as well as being long-listed for the prestigious Dagger in the Library Award 2008.

No stranger to the Isle of Wight, Pauline visited the Island twice in April to give talks on her work as a crime writer at Gurnard Pines and at the Isle of Arts Festival in Ventnor. Two of her marine mystery series are based on the Island: In for the Kill and Blood on the Sand.

The workshop promises to be fun and interactive, packed with practical advice on constructing plots and subplots, building believable characters, generating suspense, adding red herrings and exploring techniques that will grip editors, agents and readers alike. Suitable for all levels of ability.

Pauline’s books are stocked at Waterstone’s, Newport.
