Peacock angell

The next Vaguely Sunny gigs feature eclectic folk duo Peacock Angell - namely Ruth Angell and Sid Peacock.

Fiddle player/guitarist/singer Ruth Angell is well known to Island audiences. She is a member of Ashley Hutchings' Rainbow Chasers who first came to the Island in 2007 to play a sell-out concert at Quay Arts. It was Vaguely Sunny's 100th gig.

The band returned to the Quay the following year, and also during that visit they performed an intimate gig in the library of Farringford at Freshwater.

Ruth has a very keen interest in setting Tennyson's poetry to music, and as a result of that. she and Sid were invited to sing some songs after the dinner at the Tennyson Bi-Centennial celebration at Farringford in 2009. Later that year, Ruth returned to the Island to play fiddle for the Welsh band Mabon at their Quay Arts gig. That performance is now commercially available on DVD.

Guitarist Sid Peacock is from Bangor in Northern Ireland. He works actively as a composer, producer and educator. Whilst Ruth's influences mainly come from folk and classical music, Sid's are drawn more from jazz and blues.

As a result. we can expect a very diverse range of songs and tunes - everything from Irish jigs to more sensitive and reflective pieces, in addition to some thoughtful adaptations of Tennyson's poetry.

For further information about Ruth and Sid's music please visit Ruth Angel's and SidPeacock's Websites.

Ruth and Sid will be appearing at Bonchurch Old Church, Bonchurch at 8.00pm on Saturday, May 28th and at Dimbola Lodge, Freshwater Bay on Sunday, May 29th, also at 8.00pm.

Tickets for each concert can be booked by phoning 01983-730930.

Capacity is limited at each venue, so early booking is advised.
