Talk & Recital • Baptist Church • Sunday 2.30pm-4pm • Tickets £6.50
Enigma Variations, Pomp and Circumstance, Serenade for Strings have made Sir Edward Elgar the quintessential English composer, ever popular with a wide range of music lovers.
If these were not reasons enough for Isle of Arts to celebrate his life, Elgar has his own connection with the Isle of Wight as he spent his honeymoon in Shanklin and Ventnor.
The Indigo Strings, string quartet will be performing some favourite selections from Elgar's music, including Nimrod, from the Enigma Variations and the first movement of the Cello Concerto in E Minor at the Baptist Church on the afternoon of Sunday 17 April.
The event will also feature Paul Bassett, chairman of the Scottish branch of the Elgar Society, who will provide some insights about Elgar's life and work.
