Riverbank tales

The adventures of those improbable television stars of the 60's (and again in the 80's for Channel 4) Hammy the Hamster, Captain Roderick and Professor Guinea Pig have been screened by networks around the world, running for 50 years and generating a cult following among children of all ages.

Tales of the Riverbank co-creator Dave Ellison used live animals to play all the parts and created sets and props from items that would be found in any toy cupboard.

With the distinctive voice of Animal Magic host Johnny Morris narrating the action, the result was a series that is still enchanting and captivating.

The documentary and programme maker will be revealing some of the backstage secrets of working with his furry stars and you will get the chance to see some of the original sets of Hammyʼs riverside world.

Dave will also be screening a couple of Hammyʼs short adventures for us.
