2010 Scurry postponed from 28 March until 18th April due to waterlogged course.

The Isle of Wight Grand National and Ashey Scurry is a series of amateur horse races over cross country, post and rail and natural hedges. The event takes place each year in late Winter or early Spring at West Ashey Farm, near Ryde, by kind permission of Alan Aylett.

The course can be reached by car or by steam train from Havenstreet Station.

All visitors are welcome. Well behaved dogs are welcome on leads.

12 noon - ISLAND WEBSERVICES PUFFING BILLY STAKES 14.00 hh and under – riders 15 yrs and under on day of event. Two laps over a course of fences approximately 2’ height. The I W Steam Railway Trophy to the winner. The Ruth Daniell Memorial Cup to winner of younger division Sponsored by ISLAND WEBSERVICES

12.40 pm approximately - PRIORY BAY HOTEL PUFFED OUT BILLY STAKES Fences approximately 2’ (Puffing Billy Course) Open to riders 16 and over on day of event. Horses 16. hh and under. The Fairfields Farm Riding Stables Cup to the winner. A Shield to be awarded the first Registered Native Pony (state registration number on entry form). Sponsored by PRIORY BAY HOTEL. Priory Bay Hotel offer one night stay with champagne to winner

1.20 pm HUNT MEMBERS RIDE and Hound Parade (Non Competitive) Optional Fences approximately 2’6”. Shortened Scurry Course/Puffing Billy (1 ¼ laps) Eligible for a Best Turned Out award Sponsored by HY DUKE & SONS OF DORCHESTER ( Participants may collect Special from Secretary after Ride)

2.00 pm - F H WINTER ASHEY SCURRY OPEN RACE The Claire Hicks Memorial Cup to the winner. The Honour Bound Cup to highest placed junior. Trumor Feeds Shield to highest placed pony 14.2 and under Fences approximately 2’6”. Sponsored by F H WINTER AND SONS LTD

2.30pm approximately - CREASEY BILES AND KING ISLE OF WIGHT GRAND NATIONAL Open to riders 16 and over on date of event Two laps of the Grand National course The Blackgang Chine Cup to the winner Sponsored by CREASEY BILES AND KING
